Joining Dartmouth Rock
We currently have around 70 members of varying ages and backgrounds. We are not a drop-in choir, so regular attendance is required if people wish to sing in concerts.
There is no requirement to read music as songs are taught by ear. However, sheet music (where available) is provided for those who would like it. Learning tracks for most songs are also provided and can be downloaded from this website via the Members section.
Although we have a ‘no-audition’ policy, members do need to be able to sing in tune and hold a part. A free taster session is offered to all potential new members. The cost thereafter is £5 per session. There are no further charges. Tea/coffee/biscuits during rehearsal breaks, plus sheet music, word sheets and skinny red ties for the men are all covered by choir funds.
We are currently in need of more tenors (particularly male tenors) and also have room for a few more basses and sopranos. However, we are fortunate to have a large number of altos at present, so it’s possible that potential new altos will need to be added to the waiting list.
If you are interested in joining the choir, please complete the form below. Please note that regular communications are made by email so it is vital that all members have an email address at which they can be contacted.
Due to the pandemic, please also note that we have agreed as a choir that in order to attend in-person rehearsals all members must be fully vaccinated. Anyone who is unable to be vaccinated for medical reasons will be required to provide evidence of a negative lateral flow test taken on the day of each rehearsal. Currently, all our members are double vaccinated.
